Ken switched to a PowerBook and later added a Mini.
After discovering GarageBand, Ken now create a soundtrack to accompany his novels.
Ken's Story - Writer and Musician
I signed my first book contract two years ago, fresh out of college, ready to tackle the literary world armed only with a pen and, well, a PC. It worked well, despite the obvious viruses and typical Windows problems, but I found myself needing a laptop to continue writing at the feverish pace I had continued since graduating from college. I shopped around, went to Best Buy, and found a Compaq for a decent price. The Geek Squad technician gave me the specs and I was pretty impressed. There was only one catch: the laptop was loaded with spyware. The good news? Geek Squad could remove all of them for only a couple hundred bucks.
"Well, for that price I could just get a mac Powerbook," I said.
The Geek Squad technician shuffled his feet awkwardly. "Well, yeah."
So I went and bought a Powerbook. I loved it, and it was only a matter of time before I upgraded my PC to a much more compact Mac Mini. I developed a passion for Garageband, which had come with the Mini. I mixed, mingled, recorded, re-mixed, and drew upon my knowledge of musical theory.
Pretty soon, I had a soundtrack. A unique, original soundtrack for my book (link: http://www.kenbrosky.com/grendelnovel.htm). This was something new, a fresh take on fiction, a way to draw readers into my world using both their eyes AND ears. I put it up for free to people who bought the book, and--so far--the response has been incredible. I feel like I'm doing something more than just telling another story. I feel like I'm adding an entirely new, original level to the world of fiction. And I owe it to my Mac.
I can't wait to write another novel. And another soundtrack.

Im finishing my thesys on architecture and I depend on my Mac for 3d drawings and such... my coworkers own PC's and none has able to support the drawings so we basically ended up designing and depending on mine...
