2 Million People That Will Get Their First Mac This Year Now Have a Home on the Internet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Costa Mesa, CA – My First Mac has announced their website launch and its intention to focus exclusively on serving the estimated 2 million people that will be new Mac owners this year.
Apple, Inc. is well known as a master of marketing and hype, but where do the estimated 2 million people who switch to Macs each year turn once they buy their brand new Mac? My First Mac is a new website dedicated to meeting those needs of new Mac owners and prospective Mac buyers.
With sections such as Before You Buy, Getting Started, Switching From Windows, and Mastering the Mac, My First Mac (MFM) guides and informs, helping people thinking about a new Mac make the transition. Also, with evergreen articles like, "Can I Do Everything on a Mac that I Do on My PC?" to topical Q&A columns, My First Mac has the breadth and depth to serve as a new Mac owner's #1 resource on the Internet.
"I noticed over the years that the really experienced Mac users were well served by the Internet, but no one was really addressing the concerns of new Mac owners in a comprehensive way." says Chris Kerins, Executive Editor of MFM. "We've created a site where no question is a stupid question and where people can find technical concepts explained in plain English. Our long term goal is to help form a community where new Mac owners can find understandable answers and Mac Pros can share their knowledge and years of experience."
Other topic areas of My First Mac are Getting Help, Your Stories, News and How Do I…? tutorials. Discussion forums are planned to follow on in the near future.
The My First Mac concept has been percolating with the partners for over a year, with intense development beginning in 2007. June 11 marked the unannounced pre-launch of the site with over a 1,100 visitors trying out the site in the first week. "I feel like we are coming out of the gate strong with our test run, and can only rocket up from here" remarked Kerins. "Of course we have a quite a way to go before we are serving that whole 2 million, but that's a challenge we embrace."
My First Mac is based in Costa Mesa, California and already serves readers from Vancouver to Iraq to China. My First Mac is independent of Apple, Inc.
